WOD 10/16: Night Hike

a great time had by all!!! well, me and chris, that is. we started at 6pm-ish at the notch, and proceeded to head directly up bare mt.

of course prior to this we decided that we were going to do a 5 mile hike. the part we didn't put much thought to was the time at which the sun would set. my guess was that it was going to start setting around 6:30. bad guess! it was pretty much almost completely pitch black by 6:45, lol. luckily i thought ahead and brought a flashlight.
we came out at skinner state park where chris had left his truck...just before we got to the truck, we saw some other crazy people hiking in the pitch black night. we got to talking and they are part of the Pioneer Valley Hiking Group.
a truly great group of people! i am extremely grateful and happy to have met them, and i will definitely be joining them on some future hikes!
we got back to chris's truck at 8pm. there was tons of elevation...hell we hiked a mountain range, lol. and of course night hiking is awesome but slows things down a bit. :)
the great part about this was that we put ourselves in a situation that was the antithesis of yesterday's post. being stuck in a packed gym stinks (literally)!
doing the exact opposite...immersing ourselves in the solitude of the 7 sisters (holyoke) mountain range at night was just the thing i (and i think chris, too) needed. we stood on top of mt. hitchcock (1010') and overlooked northampton and amherst.
